Curl Up With These Bookish Favourites

Curl Up With These Bookish Favourites

Whether you prefer to curl up in a cosy reading nook in your house or whip out a book whenever you get a moment, reading is something that can bring people together. I don’t know about you, but it’s a topic I can talk about for a long time, especially with someone who’s shared a few titles with me!

My favourite part about reading is just not taking it too seriously, I don’t feel like I have to be a critic, and tend to enjoy nearly everything I read. I love that it’s a hobby with many levels, with the other end of the spectrum of people who love to annotate, to critically assess and predict the next twist or book. And you can still be sure that the shared love of literature can bring people together.

Top Books This Year so Far

It’s now my fourth year of reading over 50 books a year as a target, with 104 hit last year! This is something that keeps me going, and with so many read, it’s hard not to pick a few favourites.

A Little Bit of Magic

The Priory of the Orange Tree - Samantha Shannon

Finally getting to this book after a while of owning it was great, the size was daunting and it took a while, but the seemingly random selection of characters it begins with all start to weave together and wrap things up by the end of a really fun story.

Crave Series - Tracy Wolff

Magic school, witches, werewolves, dragons, vampires and more, it’s been a fun tale of discovery and love, with more books to go until I finish!

Something Romantic

Anything by Elsie Silver

I love her writing and the way she makes you root for each and every couple.

Lights Out - Navessa Allen

Yes it was dark, but the relationship wasn’t. The relationship was mostly fun and light and had comedic relief from the darker moments of what was happening, so for my first dark romance book, I’m happy I picked something that was also cute and fun.

A Touch of Mystery

The Reappearance of Rachel Price - Holly Jackson

I’ve read other books by this author and really enjoyed them, and this is no different. It steadily gives you little clues and things to think about while weaving more mystery throughout, which left me with no idea where it was going at the end,

The Crash - Frieda McFadden

I’ve read nearly everything else this author has written and enjoyed every one, never guessing a single twist and just accepting I'm along for the ride. The Crash was more simple in the way that it twisted, and it gave Misery vibes which was fun, complete with that last page twist of hers that I love so much!

Have a favourite read of the year so far? Hit reply, I’m always on the lookout for the next story.
